A goatherd chases a stray goat, scolding it as if it were a disobedient child. The goat, frightened, runs toward a group of people, seeking shelter. Amused by the goatherd’s dramatic pleas to his “daughter,” a canon offers the man some food and drink to calm his nerves, telling him to let the goat be, as “being a female… she will follow her natural instinct in spite of all you can do to prevent it.”
